Susan Osman
host of The Beijing Hour
¡@
Susan Osman began her career as teacher of English and Drama at the famous British girl¡¦s boarding school, Roedean. It was here when the BBC made a documentary about the school that she was "spotted" by the director who suggested she pursue a career in broadcasting.
Encouraged by this endorsement Susan followed this idea and by her own admission has always said, that it was a question of being ¡§in the right place at the right time¡¨.
Susan has spent almost thirty years in the media, either as a reporter or a presenter in both radio and television for commercial stations as well as the BBC.
She has had comprehensive experience in all areas of journalism. She spent six years in regional television news for the BBC and ITV as a reporter and presenter before her first big network break when she was invited to be the first female investigative reporter for a high profile consumer program. It was during one particular confrontational investigation when a man tried to beat her that television bosses who admired her courage, asked her to join in a prestigious current affairs program for ITV. Also at this time she worked as a reporter and newscaster for ITN before joining a business program, European Business Today for satellite TV as the main presenter and business reporter.
The bulk of her career however has been for the BBC where for fourteen years she worked as a main news anchor on television and hosted her own chat show for BBC Radio and was the host for a current affairs program, chairing live political discussions, as well as chairing live audience debates and hosting a live radio phone in.
More recently she worked for the BBC News Channel broadcasting on BBC1 BBC2 and World News.
Susan recently joined CRI to host
their live news and current affairs program, The Beijing Hour, which you can
listen to every weekday from 7 until 8am
